The Dimensions of Human Wellness

Wellness refers to a holistic approach in which mind, body and spirit are integrated.  It is a way of life oriented toward optimal health and well-being in which body, mind and spirit are integrated in a purposeful manner with a goal of living a fulfilling life to its fullest. Wellness is more than the absence of disease, [or] a state defined as “health.” It incorporates a concern for optimal functioning. There is an undeniable connection between human wellness and achieving all other important goals in Life, i.e. building wealth.

Social Wellness the ability to relate to and connect with others. The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with family, friends, and co-workers.

Emotional Wellness the ability to understand ourselves and cope with the challenges life can bring. The ability to acknowledge and share feelings of anger, fear, sadness or stress; hope, love, joy and happiness in a productive manner.

Mental Wellness the state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution her family and community.

Intellectual Wellness the intellectually well person values lifelong learning and seeks to foster critical thinking, develop moral reasoning, expand worldviews and engage in education for the pursuit of knowledge.

Spiritual Wellness the ability to establish peace and harmony in our lives. The ability to develop congruency between values and actions and to realize a commonality.

Physical Wellness the ability to recognize that our behaviors have a significant impact on our wellness and adopting healthful habits.

Occupational Wellness the ability to get personal fulfillment as an entrepreneur or chosen career fields. The desire to also contribute to make a positive impact on the organizations we work in and with society as a whole.

Financial Wellness the intricate balance of the mental, spiritual and physical aspects of money. This unique combination is an ideal to strive towards in our dealings with money. Financial wellness is having an understanding of your financial situation and taking care of it in such a way that you are prepared for financial excellence.
